Make no mistake, Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson, Robert Randolph, John Medeski andRayfield “Ray Ray” Holloman put the “super” in supergroup. Bonded over their love for gospeland Sacred Steel, the members of North Mississippi All-Stars with John Medeskir reached out to Sacred Steel superstar, Robert Randolph, who said yes to joining this stirring collective. A couple of cool things about this group–besides their massive talent–is that they are likely the only group playing Sacred Steel who are not from the House of God, (other than Robert, of course), the church that is the crucible for this fiery, pedal steel-based brand of gospel music. Additionally, this is an instrumentals-only band, letting the gospel fervor bubble up in a simmering broth of faith, blues and devotion to The Word. Word.
