“Old school taste, new school bass.” Smoked Out Soul is a future-forward funk collective blending classic soul with modern bass music. Their high-energy live show fuses a DJ-driven dance set with live horns, synths, guitar, drums, and percussion, bridging the gap between Memphis grit and California cool, dusty vinyl and digital heat.
Born from a weekly party in San Francisco's Mission district and evolved into a touring act, Smoked Out Soul has lit up stages at major festivals and iconic venues across the country.
Helmed by producer, DJ, and guitarist Zebuel, the project brings together an all-star lineup of Bay Area talent, including drummer Paul Oliphant, co-producer and multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald (Disco E), percussionist Brandon Lee, and a powerhouse brass section featuring Chris Hoog, Nico Colucci, Brendan Liu, and Obrayan Calderon, alongside a rotating cast of special guests, creating a show that’s as dynamic as it is immersive
