You know the guy you often see on saxophone jumping in with a band for a song or two and twenty minutes later when you appear at another stage you wonder how that guy got off stage with the one band, got to the other stage and is now sitting in with the band on that stage before you even got there, when all you did was stop to get something to drink on the way over? That’s Skerik. He’s appeared at High Sierra for so many years with so many bands such as Garage a Trois, Les Claypool’s Flying Frog Brigade, McTuff, Skerik’s Syncopated Taint Septet, Dead Kenny G’s and more, that he’s the quintessential artist-at-large. One of the definitions of “at-large” is “a classification for a fugitive on the run who is within a very large radius”. How apropos. Skerik is notorious aw’right. And his talents know no boundaries. Always lurking somewhere. You never know who he’s gonna sit-in with next. Catch him if you can.
