Returning to High Sierra for the 5th time in the past six years, Portland’s MarchFourth Marching Band have woven their way into the fabric of the festival – and how they could they not. A raucous, flamboyant, colorful, high-octane marching band of immensely talented freaks is right at home with us. There aren’t many better festival moments when you might be taking a moment to chill after an inspiring playshop or some down time with some friends when all of a sudden around the corner comes a parade with an array of infectious beats, blares and blasts, and chances are it’s MarchFourth. When these guys kick into gear it’s the musical and visual equivalent of a confetti drop and bottle of champagne being popped. MarchFourth’s highly charged street parade sound is complimented by tribal, glittery, burlesque outfits while dancers, musicians and passersby fall into the procession, twisting and moving to the rhythms and grooves. And the party is ON! Their zany, Vaudevillian antics and high-spirited arrangements are so joyful and action packed that we had to ask them back again for more this year.
