With feet firmly planted in the Northern California music scene Dead Winter Carpenters is a newly formed quintet emerging on the shores of North Lake Tahoe, CA. Boasting members of San Francisco’s Montana Slim String Band and Lake Tahoe’s Rusty Strings, Dead Winter Carpenters are poised with an arsenal of original and an unyielding tour schedule (rolling across the country in their 1997 15 passenger green Ford van named Willy The Pimp). Defying musical boundaries, DWC blends elements of rock n roll, folk, roots, country, bluegrass, ragtime, blues, and reggae music with choice influences from throughout rock history as well as traditional fiddle tunes of earlier times courtesy of fiddler/vocalist Jenni Charles who’s magnetic presence and wiggle-worm high energy elevates the entire proceedings on stage. The band consists of fiddler and vocalist Jenni Charles, upright bassist Dave Lockheart, drummer Ryan Davis and guitarists/vocalists Sean Duerr and Jesse Dunn – note of interest to all NCAA basketball fans - Jesse Dunn, who stands about 6’8” tall used to play college ball at Northeastern U. with Dallas Mavericks backup point guard J. J. Berea.
